Crossing out the words, he scribbled fervently, pen scratching against the paper. Fresh blue ink seeped onto the page and stained his fingers. The letters quickly became suffocated under indigo clouds of smudged ink. Yet he knew that even through the facade of his crude covering, the words still remained untouched underneath—staring back at him. There was no escaping the words, escaping the maze of memories that ensnared him. The memories lingered: faint, but unignorable.
