Work
BY ANNA LEE GEOGHAN '24
Sitting here
at my
desk, 6
hours have
passed and yet it
has been 5
minutes. Blue
light, dark
nights, the sound
of soft
music. Productivity is
water, slipping
between cracks and
crevices of open
palms and
washing away, far
away. A hand
on my
shoulder and I
turn and no
one is there and
yet I
can hear them
talking to me just
do it why
can’t you
do it it would
be done if you
had just
started when
you sat
down. I
clean my
room, talk to
friends, call
parents, anything to
ignore the abandoned
obligations, the
rising
sun
cresting the
trees. I
close my
eyes
out of pure
instinct.
