Perpetually

Madison Hua '23

The evergreen leaves change to a hue of orange

Soft and subtle

Rays of sunshine

Glimmer and rise

Then drifts away under the abyss of the sky

Biking to the beach

There sits Agnes

Holding the same tattered book

Changes, Changes

Pages ripped out

Creases mar the words

Stains kiss the paper

Spine broken in

Her raven hair blowing against the wind

She looks up and smiles

At the sky and clouds, or maybe it's the sea and the sand?

But she knows some things never change

Holding up the book

Upside down

Knowing she will never be able to read it

The moon swells against the twinkle of the stars

As the seasons shift

And the friends come and go

No real change

Perpetually
